brought foods, culinary practices, beliefs about food, and related
traditions with them. Sharing food has been a way for all people of all
cultures to sustain and create meaningful and emotional bonds. Come

Early Breast Cancer Screening

Helps uninsured or underinsured women age 50 and over receive high quality,
affordable breast health services. Within a private setting, women are given
free mammograms, clinical breast exams and self-exam education and
instruction. Clinics are conducted in the familiarity of women’s own
neighborhoods and in their own languages. The YWCA NOC staff speak more than
twelve languages and in Orange County, special clinics are conducted for
Korean, Vietnamese and Hispanic women. Call YWCA NOC 714 871-4488.
Thurmond Scholarship

The Thurmond Scholarship was created to assist women over age 24 who wish to
return to college and who need financial assistance to attend college.
Scholarships are awarded once a year. Applications can be obtained by
calling the YWCA at 714 871-4488 or drop us a note
using our inquiry form.
Youth Employment Service (Y.E.S.)

Since 1968, Y.E.S. has been a free employment service designed to help
at-risk youth find employment. The strengths of the program include
one-on-one interviews to determine skills and interests, practical job
counseling concerning suitable job objectives, interview techniques and
appearance, on-the-job conduct, punctuality, and dependability.
