The YWCA of North Orange County is part of the YWCA of the USA and a worldwide YWCA organization dedicated to empowering women, girls and their families economically and socially for more than 140 years. What began as a simple desire to create a safe haven for young women has evolved into a worldwide association that embraces the ideals of peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all people.

In concert with the national and world YWCA’s goals, the YWCA North Orange County’s values, vision and mission guide us to provide women and girls opportunities to overcome obstacles that prevent them from achieving fulfilling lives.

The YWCA North Orange County has served Orange County for more than 75 years. Since its beginning, generations of Orange County women have harnessed their passion to change the lives of women and girls by creating programs that enrich and improve the quality of their lives. We are a resilient organization strengthened by our members’ commitment to women and girls capable of expanding our reach when issues warrant.

YWCA History. In 1928 dedicated women formed a YWCA membership to provide leadership and economic empowerment opportunities for women and girls. When World War II impacted the lives of women whose husbands were serving overseas, the YWCA established Servicemen’s Wives clubs to support them. When women looked for affordable daycare so they could work and support their families, the YWCA opened daycare centers to meet their needs. And when girls & boys needed the chance to sharpen leadership and job skills, the YWCA set up summer recreation camps and youth employment services.

Today, the YWCA North Orange County fulfills its mission through a variety of programs:

If you’re interested in impacting the lives of women and girls, then join us. In partnership we will secure the future for all.
